How Often Should You Service Your Pool? Monthly vs Fortnightly vs Weekly
There's no one-size-fits-all answer to how often a pool needs servicing — but there is a sensible default, and a few things that push you up or down from it.
The baseline: monthly
For most well-set-up residential pools, monthly servicing is the cadence we recommend. A monthly visit keeps the water balanced, the equipment checked, and small issues caught before they become expensive — without paying for visits the pool doesn't need.
When fortnightly makes sense
Step up to fortnightly if your pool works harder:
- Heavy use — a busy family pool over summer.
- Lots of surrounding trees dropping leaves and organic matter.
- A pool that's historically prone to algae or struggles to hold balance.
- Through the peak of summer, when heat accelerates everything.
When weekly is worth it
Weekly servicing suits pools under real pressure — high bather loads, problem pools being brought back under control, or owners who simply want it pristine and hands-off year-round.
What changes through the year
Most pools don't need the same cadence in July as in January. A common pattern is tighter servicing through the hot months and a lighter touch over winter. We can flex the schedule with the season rather than locking you into one frequency.
How to decide
Ask yourself: how heavily is the pool used, how much falls into it, how reliable is the equipment, and how much do you want to do yourself? If you're unsure, start monthly — it's the safe default, and it's easy to step up if the pool tells us it needs more.
With no call-out fee and pools serviced right across Perth's northern suburbs, it costs nothing to have us assess what your pool actually needs.
